there's no way to make this more palatable than it is, so here it is, in living color. today was nine days after the surgery, and since the steristrips should come off between 7 and 10 days afterwards, today was the day. they were looking dirty anyway, and i was concerned about what might be an infection underneath. if i had more swelling and a fever, i'd say i had an infection, but there has been only a tiny bit of pus. the incisions are quite sore (and i don't have any darvocet left), but i feel like it's much better for them to be out in the open, starting to scab and heal. i'm not sure if they are supposed to be all-the-way closed, or if they are gaping open like they look like they are, and that is bad. if it gets worse, i will call dr. grissom. i was nauseous again today and managed to sleep for the afternoon and feel better after eating chocolate ... sunday, march 7:
now one week later (and two weeks after the surgery), you can see in this picture that the area of the incision is starting to dry out, and the skin is starting to fill in. although this was taken and treated to entirely different color conditions, you can also tell that the bruise is subsiding. there are still pretty 'mood colors' of green and purple, but they are fading. wound is still ringed with red. scabs setting in... |
