i haven't blogged in awhile and my the things that happen when you turn your back for a bit. i turn around for just one moment and suddenly blogger changes its entire look. there were problems, of course, at first log in, and i was accosted by odd language -- naturally, since odd language is trailing me every day... these days...
We're probably we're on it. i'm probably i'm the reason i haven't written is due to language situations similar to this. quoth, from an email exchange with a colleague, just today, regurgitated and totally out of context:
no, i don't think you're thinking crazy (it's almost infectious, like a disease, this stuff, isn't it? particularly compounded when there is so much mistranslation between hither and yon. sometimes i don't know how to construct sentences anymore or even have conversations with a degree of certainty that what is spoken resembles what is understood; weekends spent watching movies can suddenly become terminology-parsing nightmares. i went to a series of short films saturday and was totally unprepared when the first film was in german. i spent the whole time toggling between what was spoken and what was subtitled, considering the terminology equivalents... what's really happening inside our brains, as we attempt to cowboy-wrangle all of the right words together? it's MAD i say. a mad mad mad mad mad mad world!). or at least if you are, i'm right there with you.
or is it just that i have nothing interesting to say? or nothing really to say? posted by moya | permalink |
